Linda hit them with a foat last yr along with me. And we both found out its not what its cracked up to be. But of course floats are a new method for me. So i might have been doing something wrong. But they just dont seem to be a effective tool for me. I tried them on the creek and ponds and 3 lakes. With zero catches.

I caught 'em in the old days with float sets, but haven't tried it in a long time. There's not enough 'rats around here to go to the trouble.

i have used floats set in ponds and had good luck with it. trap on each end ear of corn and some Carmans on it works well for me. I had a pond could not find the den hole at all so floats did it for me. good luck
Its fall trapping here in montana and I have been killing them with a floater set 17 rats in 9 days use red apples for bait and rub one all over the float to get the sent out, my floats have 2 conni 110's in each and i have a had a couple doubles!

farmnhunter: If you want to avoid feline, you can't use any meat or fish item or scent. Try a piece of black licorish covered by dairy feed, or lucky charms or corn/koolaid (mix 1 qt whole corn with a package of grape koolaid)
