When you take a picture of a track, you need a clear track on certain animals. Also need to put a quarter in your pocket to have to lay next to the track for reference of size. Most pictures of tracks lack the clarity. It does appear to be a red fox track, but a better picture on firmer ground would help.

From what can be seen in the picture, the one print appears to have the rear print in it which only the fox does other than the cat family. I would say it is a fox track. The fox is the only member of the canines which walk like the cat family. Left foot pushed off to the right mounding the soil toward the left... good tracks... just need a size indicator next time. I enjoy your pics trapshooter... tracking tells stories, then when you set up to intercept them and do it, that's the icing on the cake.

If you really enjoy tracking, I would recommend you pick up some books by Tom Brown... his first one was titled the tracker... You'll see a whole new world if your heart is in to it.
That is some excellent advice there. While you're at it buy every single other book that man has written. I'm pretty sure I have them all. I long to know half the things he does and if I did... well I wouldn't be here.
Give a man a fish and he shall eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he shall come home smelling strong of the drink and the truth shall not be in him.

farmnhunter: If you want to avoid feline, you can't use any meat or fish item or scent. Try a piece of black licorish covered by dairy feed, or lucky charms or corn/koolaid (mix 1 qt whole corn with a package of grape koolaid)
