some thing to get use too ha bcat64 setting them things upside down.I know they give the looks of a biggier opening but I dont trust myself enough to set them upside down yet! lol. If the hole to a weasel dox is 4 inches off the ground cant you set 5x5 for mink in the trails just the sameas we do for 110's and 120's. so who ever is using the 5x5 in the trails " what height do you set them, and do you set them like Bcat64 mentioned

When I set for coon I set 220 and 160 both. The 220s I set three inches off the ground with the trigger on top. And the smaller traps i set four inches and trigger on the bottom. I try and blend the trap with grass either way and put a small stick tou raise their heads just like a snare.

I've caught one in a 220 and that was a young dumb one. I would definitely bring it up a little higher and then my best suggestion is to blend the trap well stake it real well and cover your scent. They're awfully spooky when it comes to sticking their head somewhere.
Never really gave the stick idea a thought but seems like a good idea..... and ya i always try to blend the set in with limbs with leaves on them just try to make them looks as natural as possible... never even tried for a fox in them just coons... in the marsh otters and rats and coons set the same way but blended in with grass.....

My theory is to get their brains thinking about food rather than where they are going. The set is really a blind set and it is just whatever goes down the trail. I just want to put the odds in my favor in regards to trap avoidance
My thoughts on a couple drops of urine are that everything will stop and sniff at urine no matter where it came from. I want them to keep moving

farmnhunter: If you want to avoid feline, you can't use any meat or fish item or scent. Try a piece of black licorish covered by dairy feed, or lucky charms or corn/koolaid (mix 1 qt whole corn with a package of grape koolaid)
