So instead of buying some, I have saved a mustard bottle and the wife has almost emptied a Dawn dishsoap bottle... How do I get the smells out of them before using for trapping? I was thinking let it sit with some water and bleach, but then it'll have a bleach smelll... What do you guys use to sanitize used plastic bottles?

I use ketchup bottles, just wash real good is all you need to do. I would think mustard bottles will have some lingering smell but if using for coon baits I wouldn't think it will matter much. I probally wouldn't use a soap bottle, soap tastes nasty and would not want to risk making my bait taste like soap. Tip: Dont use the ketchup bottle that has the seal at the hole, they stop up constantly.
I really was thinking for coon bait and a urine bottle... got a gal of red fox (thanks Dale) and no bottle since I was an idiot and threw the one away last year, DUHHHHh maybe I'll just get more Ice cream and have the kids finish off the chocolate syrup, lol

Wash with dish soap first then use baking soda,Baking soda n hot water shake, rinse then ad baking soda shake leave ,turn upside down to ge the cap deodorized, thats wat works for me.Run the baking soda water through the cap.
i like to use old "lens cleaner" squirt bottles. they are tougher than the walmart bottles. i just rince them out with hot water and baking soda. reason i like them is you can, squirt, drip, or mist the lure where you want it. i think the mist actually helps spread out and smell more. JMO

farmnhunter: If you want to avoid feline, you can't use any meat or fish item or scent. Try a piece of black licorish covered by dairy feed, or lucky charms or corn/koolaid (mix 1 qt whole corn with a package of grape koolaid)
