TTT= to the top>>>>revitalize the thread........Okay, I am going to join and get the fur handling DVD and have my kid show me how to play it. You guys ought to start a co-op where you exchange DVD's on a weekly basis. Every Monday you drop your DVD in an envelope and send it to the next guy. He who breaks the chain is out. That way you get a new dvd on Wednesday and can "burn" it or watch it. You could form a group of trusted forum members. All it would cost is postage. I realize that my previous sentiment on video technology has been less than kind. However, I must choose my battles wisely and consent that DVDs are here to stay for those that watch TV. My alterior motive with involving my son is that he may harken to the call seeing this footage. He seems mildly interested in putting up fur. As he watched me on the beam, I told him that a man could finish other folks fur for a price and that idea appealed to him.

I haven't looked at there web site yet but what is this Fur Takers of America? They are Americans that take fur...........Seriously, I thought maybe they were like Fur Harvesters but they dont have an auction program. They do have their famous college which is a well spoken of school. I figure their magazine is worth something plus there are strength in numbers of membership.

Well said Krank..... We defiantly need to all stand together I say that all the time to my fellow dump truckers that I been trucking with for the past 11 years in my area. I tell them we need to stick together and fight for better rates with the fuel cost these days, it a killer. They never want to do it, just hang back and take what they can get. Same way with trappers, some say lets fight for our rights, but most just hang back and take what is offered to them to trap with. With what I gather here on this forum, most is fed up with the MTA, MDC ect ect. Everybody wants us to join and be united as one and have more power to get what we want, but nobody wants to do anything after that. Just my thoughts and nothing more.

login i do not agree with your statement about THE MTA we have done a lot for the trappers in this state i have been a member for over 20 years and with others have work hard to make things better for member and none members a like. our trapping rights would not be as good as they are if it wasn't for the missouri trappers assc. working with the MDC.

Paul, no disrespect, but it is just what I have read here on this forum that some are a little teed on how the MTA handles things and runs things.
It is not something that I have made up, it is stuff that I have read.

login,Paul is correct. You,as an individual trapper, have very little influence on how the MDC makes up the regs. The MTA is our voice to help things get done there. Now I don't agree with everything they have done or do,but there is no alternative short of having the state legislative branch of the government take over the wildlife management, which is something we must never let happen. In states with such management, emotions dictate rules instead of sound scientific facts.Right now,the MTA is trying to get the regs changed on allowing the bigger conis to be used in the water without being completly submerged. We are now allowed to hold or fur over past the season, thanks to the MTA. I,along with others, wasn't too happy with the shortning of the season, but the majority of trappers that voted, did. This shows that the majority wanted it or that the numbers of those that didn't,either didn't vote or were the minority. There are many things the MDC and their employees do that I don't agree with also, but we have one of the best wildlife agencies in the nation. If people want to see changes, they need to join with likeminded people and change it from within. All the officers are elected and serve as volunteers ,so to speak. They recieve no pay for serving and do so because of what they believe in.It's hard enough to run things when you are being payed but when not,it shows grit.
