burdock is a member of the thisle family of plants who's roots are used for herbal medicines or remidies. It's suppose to cleanse the blood and also help with kidney stones.I believe anytime in the spring before it blooms is the time to dig the roots ,Willie. Yup,krank, most farmers spray it around here.

need to wait till June. After the crops are up then you can find it on bare ground. (Before they spray) Burdock is aroundall summer and fall... If you want to do something "right now" then go look for paw paws. Right now they have big purple blossoms. After the blossums die then theyare a bugger to find. Remeber the spot as paw paws are like nothing else.

The French farm dandelions. My bees get good forage of them. I have made dandelion wine but it takes about 2 hrs to pick enough blossums to make 1/2 a gallon. The roots are real good roasted for coffee stretcher. We eat alot of lambsquarter. The old-timers used to seek greens in the spring as a tonic to cleanse their bodies of all the salted, preserved food they ate all winter. Hence the term, "spring tonic".
